The Modern Hotel in the heart of Honolulu is just gorgeous. If you get the chance - stay there.
The foyer had a special screw revolving bookcase that come 5pm each day opened into a cocktail bar. This place got pretty busy on Friday night with people coming from all over to enjoy a cocktail or three. We got the feeling The Modern was a pretty popular place to be seen. In fact, during our stay, the restaurant was blocked off one night while Barrack & Michelle Obama had dinner there - must have been pretty lonely for them. The whole street was blocked of with secret service motorcade etc and only residents could get in and out of the hotel.
The room was really nice. Clean lines and plenty of room to unpack.
Within a short walking distance are some beautiful sunsets most days.
Let them know if you have a special occasion happening while you're there as they might surprise you like they did us.
The view from our balcony was awesome, looking down at the pool and then out to the marina and Pacific Ocean.
We can highly recommend The Modern in Honolulu. If you get the chance, stay there.
